Suzanne Carroll

Suzanne Carroll lives and works as a Visual Artist in Dundalk. In 2015 she decided to leave a successful career in the private sector and return to education full-time. Suzanne graduated from the National College of Art & Design in 2021 with a BA in Fine Art with Critical Culture (first class hons). Since graduating, she has been awarded An Táin Arts Centre’s Emerging Artist in residence for 2021 and longlisted for the RDS Visual Art Award 2021. Suzanne’s painting betwixt, presented at her NCAD Degree Show, was purchased by the OPW and is now part of the state’s national collection. At the conclusion of her residency in An Táin, she had a show in the Basement Gallery, Dundalk. In her first solo exhibition, Suzanne presented a series of new prints and paintings titled Bewitched. During the exhibition, her painting titled Stacked was selected for inclusion in the Louth County Councils Municipal Art Collection. Suzanne is a new member of Bridge Street Studios.

Suzanne’s artistic practice includes paint and print and is influenced by her interest in social history and material culture. She is curious about the stories we tell, the memories we choose to recall and the memories we choose to forget. She is intrigued by how these sometimes-conscious memory games shape our personal identity and how in turn, these stories influence our collective history.
