Lisa is the most recent member of the Studios and teaches a range of courses to young students including seasonal Art camps and Portfolio Preparation courses. A Textiles graduate of University of Ulster in Belfast and Goldsmiths College in London, Lisa works primarily as a Secondary school teacher working with young people from 11-18yrs.
Her personal work however, specialises in Fine Art Textiles and is highly involved, sculptural and experimental. Often three-dimensional and in multiple, cottons, hessians, muslins and linens are sewn and moulded into natural forms, the human and organic. Memory, human suffering and loss permeate her earlier work and remain themes she explores currently. Every piece is derived from extensive visual research and explorative drawing, design and preparatory work culminating in a range of sculptural textile pieces, which seek to be emotive and unnerving.
